Ulta Beauty has named Kecia Steelman as president and CEO, succeeding Dave Kimbell who will retire as CEO after 11 years in the company.
Steelman joined Ulta Beauty in August 2014 as chief store operations officer and was most recently the company’s president and COO.
In addition to the new appointment, Steelman joined the board of directors, effective January 6.
“I am confident the strategic priorities we shared last fall will enable us to capture greater market share in beauty and wellness and deliver long-term profitable growth,” said Steelman.
“I am excited to lead our outstanding teams as we unlock even greater advantages of our operating model, drive best-in-class execution, and position Ulta Beauty for our next chapter of growth as the beauty destination for a lifetime.”
Meanwhile, Kimbell will also step down from the board and will serve as an advisor to the company through January 28.
In the third quarter, Ulta Beauty’s net sales rose 1.7 per cent year over year to $2.53 billion.
