Global sportswear brand On is shifting to a single-CEO structure, with current co-CEO and CFO Martin Hoffmann set to take over as sole chief effective in July when Marc Maurer departs.
The company is also expanding its leadership team with key senior appointments while maintaining active involvement from its founders.
On’s founders – David Allemann and Caspar Coppetti as executive co-chairmen and Olivier Bernhard as an executive board member – will continue to oversee product development, shape the company’s vision, and support Hoffmann and the senior leadership team.
Maurer described his 12 years with the company as an intense and challenging, yet rewarding experience.
“I’m eternally grateful to my partners and the team,” he said. “After a dozen years, it is time for me to move on, staying true to the culture and explorer spirit we have built.”
Hoffmann added that sharing the CEO role with Maurer – one of his closest friends – was one of the best things that can happen in life.
“Thank you, Marc, for this incredible journey and continued friendship,” he added. “I look forward to ‘Dream On’ with my partners and our incredible team in this next chapter. We have a strong strategy for sustained long-term growth and the dedication to execute it.”
As part of its leadership restructuring, On has made several key senior hires:
- Katarina Berg, chief people officer (effective August), previously chief human resources officer at Spotify.
- Scott Maguire, chief innovation officer (started March ), formerly CEO at Specialized and COO at Dyson.
- Adib Sisani, chief communications officer (started April), formerly global head of communications at Axel Springer.
- Craig Jones, chief supply chain officer (started March), formerly SVP of distribution and logistics operations at Levi Strauss.
Maurer will remain co-CEO through Q2 this year to support the transition, allowing Hoffmann to continue as CFO while On finalises its search for a new financial leader.
