Yum China has appointed Maggie Chen as the new GM for the Lavazza joint venture, succeeding Adrian Ding, who has been appointed Yum China’s CFO.

Chen joined Yum China in 2015 as the director of marketing for KFC and has been Yum China’s chief customer officer since January of last year.

“With her experience and the inventiveness of our local team, we are ready to continue our expansion, promote the excellence of authentic Italian espresso, and strengthen the Lavazza brand as a symbol of quality and innovation,” said Lavazza Group CEO Antonio Baravalle.

Yum China struck an agreement with Lavazza Group in 2021 to become its exclusive distributor in China, with the goal of expanding Lavazza’s shop network in the market to 1000 stores by 2025.

The joint venture also allows Yum China to sell and distribute Lavazza’s retail products in mainland China, including coffee beans, ground coffee and coffee capsules.
