Pizza chain Papa John’s has appointed Todd Penegor as its new president and CEO, effective immediately. He succeeds Ravi Thanawala, who served as interim CEO since March and will continue as the brand’s CFO.
Prior to joining Papa John’s, Penegor was president and CEO of Wendy’s since 2016, with almost 20 years of experience in the restaurant and consumer goods industries. During his tenure in the fast food chain, the company grew to more than 7000 restaurants worldwide.
Penegor also worked at Ford Motors from 1989 to 2000 and held key positions in Kellog’s from 2000 to 2013, including president of US snacks, CFO of Kellog Europe, CFO of Kellog Snacks, and VP for global financial planning and strategy.
Speaking on the new appointment, Christopher Coleman, chair of Papa John’s board of directors, described Penegon as a proven leader with the experience to help the brand reach its full potential.
“Todd has an outstanding record of leading winning teams and scaling franchised operations globally through trusted partnerships, product innovation and digital transformation,” said Coleman.
“He has also demonstrated his ability to effectively allocate capital, drive value and enhance profitability. We are excited to welcome Todd to Papa John’s and look forward to his contributions as we work to create significant, sustainable value for our shareholders and franchisees.”
